Pipes are not sold in pieces. They are sold in sizes, wall thickness and running metres — and the bill has to say so.

A contractor asks for 25 mm, sch 40, six metres cut into four lengths. The stock is full pipes, the rate is per running metre, and someone has to work out the wastage. That calculation happens on a slip of paper, and it is where disputes start.

Why we specialise here

Piping is sold by specification, and specification is not a description.

Size, grade and schedule are the product

Two pipes of the same nominal size are different products if the schedule, grade or IS code differs. Holding all three on the item means the price you quote is the price you billed, and a site engineer can verify it against the pipe in his hand.

Cut length is a real operation

Cutting full pipes into lengths consumes stock. Recording each cut — length taken, kerf, offcut — turns wastage from a guess into a number you can price into the rate, which is quietly where a lot of margin leaks in this trade.

The buyer is usually a contractor

Not a consumer. Contractors buy on terms, across several sites, and the outstanding amount grows quietly. Site-wise dues with a limit make the credit a decision instead of an accident.

Problems we solve

Where piping businesses get stuck.

"The invoice just says 'pipe' and nobody knows what was supplied"

Then a return comes, or a site engineer disputes the quantity, and the delivery challan has no size on it. Size, grade, length and standard on every line removes that conversation.

"Customers argue about the metreage we cut"

Both sides count differently and neither trusts the other's number. When the cut list is in the system and the bill shows each cut length with the offcut, the argument ends at the counter.

"We can't tell what is really in the godown"

Pipes, fittings and valves in different sizes and grades, some of it half-used, and a lot of it bought in bundles. Stock by size and grade with weight and metreage removes the guess from the stock report.

The approach

From a rate list to a site delivery.

  1. 1

Size, grade and code master is set

Your catalogue structured by material, size, schedule and IS code, with your own rates attached. This is the foundation, and it is a day's work if the list already exists.

  2. 2

Opening stock is counted in metres and pieces

Full pipes counted in lengths, fittings in pieces, and open bundles measured. The system starts from what is in the yard, not from the purchase order value.

  3. 3

Counter, cut lists and site orders run

Counter sales, contractor orders with cut lists, and site deliveries with e-way bills, all deducting the same stock in the units you trade in.

  4. 4

    Wastage, margin and books

Wastage and shortage reported monthly against margin, purchases matched to receipts, GST and your books prepared from the same data.

What's included

The product side, and the money behind it.

Product side

Size, grade and IS code

Material, nominal size, schedule, grade and standard held on the item and printed on the invoice, so the bill can be checked against the pipe.

Cut-length billing

Cut lists entered as sizes and lengths, with running metres, offcuts and wastage calculated and deducted from stock.

Metre and weight tracking

Pipes held in running metres, heavier items in kilograms, and conversions applied automatically so no order is billed in the wrong unit.

Fittings, valves and flanges

Held by size and rating alongside the pipe, so a complete bill for a line is picked and billed in one go.

Money side

Contractor and project credit

Terms and limits per contractor, with dues visible by site, so four sites under one customer do not hide behind each other.

Mills and trader purchases

Purchase bills matched against receipts, and rates compared by size and grade, so a margin problem is visible before the next order.

GST by HSN

Rates held per HSN so correct tax applies to pipes, fittings and services on the same invoice.

Wastage and shortage reports

What cutting, handling and site work consumed, against what was billed. Useful in this trade more than in almost any other.

FAQ

Questions piping businesses ask.

Something else? WhatsApp us and a member of the team will reply.

Can the system calculate cut lengths from a list?

Yes. You enter the cut list with sizes and lengths, and the system works out running metres, wastage from each cut, and the amount to deduct from stock. The bill prints the cut length rather than the full pipe length, which is the number the customer actually checks.

We sell some items by weight and some by piece. Does that work?

Yes. The unit of measure is set per item, so a pipe is billed in running metres, a fitting in pieces, and a heavier item in kilograms, all within the same order and the same invoice. Converting between them is handled by the system rather than by the person typing the bill.

We supply contractors on thirty-day credit.

Terms and limits can be set per contractor or project, and the outstanding amount follows the delivery rather than the invoice date. Site-wise dues are visible, which is what matters when one contractor has four sites running at once.

We need the IS code and ISI marking details printed on the invoice.

Yes. Grade, IS code, standard and size are held on the item and print on the invoice, so the document a site engineer keeps is the same one your accounts use. It also removes most of the return queries, because the specification is written down.

Sell by specification, and bill by specification.
